Many consider this the ultimate paste tomato. The Amish knew what they were doing! It was commercialized by Tom Hauch of Heirloom Seeds, who acquired it from the Amish near Lancaster, Pennsylvania- hence the name! This plant produces bright red 8-12 ounce fruits that vary in shape from an oxheart to a rounded plum. The delicious flesh is juicy and meaty, excellent for sauces, soup bases or just for fresh eating. It is one of Slow Food USA’s Ark of Taste varieties.
